Ready for facetime

In a better world, these are the only masks we’d like to wear.

At this point, we’re pretty sure you have maxed out everything that you could do at home – cleaned the entire place, cooked various recipes, watched numerous shows and movies on Netflix, responsibly helped out friends and frontliners, and so on.

Take the time off for yourself. It will do good for you and everyone who needs you.

We’re here to share beauty masks you can do using the ingredients already in your pantry. Who knew that breakfast staples like banana and honey can make for a moisturizing facial?

A note of caution: each skin reacts differently, so do a patch test before applying any of these to your face!

Coffee Coconut Mask

Coffee grounds on skin help lessen inflammation, especially if you deal with occasional acne. The course texture of the grounds and sugar will also gently slough off dead skin cells allowing for a faster cell turnover—but be sure to massage it on your face gently!

The coconut oil, on the other hand, imparts moisture and has antibacterial and anti fungal properties.

Who knew your caffeine addiction could give you glowing skin?

Ingredients:
1 tbsp fresh coffee grounds
1 tbsp organic coconut oil
1 tbsp sugar (brown, white, or muscovado works)

Prep:
Mix all ingredients in a bowl and gently massage on clean face using circular motions. Rinse with warm water after.

Green Tea Mask

Each of the ingredients in this DIY mask will greatly benefit your skin. Honey is known to be antibacterial and moisturizing, leaving your skin smooth and supple. Baking soda is said to brighten skin and prevent acne.

Meanwhile, green tea leaves contain a lot of antioxidants and is believed to help reduce sun damage. It also calms down redness and firms up the skin.

The makings of a face mask rich in antioxidants

Ingredients:
1 bag of green tea, remove the filter
1/2 tsp baking soda
1 1/2 tsp raw honey

Prep:
Mix honey, green tea leaves, and baking powder until in forms a thick paste. Rinse your face and pat dry, gently apply the mixture avoiding the eye area. Let the mixture dry on your face for about 5-10 mins, then rinse off with water. Make sure to moisturize your face after.

You may opt to grind the tea leaves using a mortar and pestle if you want a finer powder to use for your mask.

Turmeric and Honey Mask

We already know about raw honey’s antibacterial properties, but did you know that it also helps reduce redness and inflammation? Turmeric also contains antibacterial properties and is known to be anti-inflammatory.

This is an easy two-ingredient mask that will definitely fight acne and aid in skin regeneration. Now who doesn’t want that?

An anti-aging one-two punch

Ingredients:
1 tbsp raw honey
1 tsp turmeric powder

Prep:
Simply mix until you form a paste. Apply on clean face and leave on for 20 minutes. Rinse with water, pat dry, and apply moisturizer.

If you have fair skin, the turmeric powder may leave a yellow residue. Don’t panic and just wait it out. It will fade.

Banana and Lemon Face Mask

If your skin feels dull, then this face mask is what you need. Bananas are known to be high and potassium, biotin, and Vitamin C, and if applied topically is absorbed by the skin, leaving it soft, supple, and bright.

Meanwhile, lemon juice will help in exfoliate to remove all the oil and gunk!

Ingredients:
1 Overripe banana, mashed
1 tsp Raw Honey
1/2 tsp lemon, juiced

Prep:
Combine all ingredients and mix well. Apply onto clean face and make sure to leave it on for 20 minutes. This will allow your skin to soak up all the goodness. Rinse with water and then moisturize.

If you’re feeling experimental, combine key ingredients that you like together, like adding a banana to the turmeric and honey recipe. If your patch test proves it safe, then you have endless beauty mask recipes at the palm of your hand. Enjoy!
